THE AWARDS GROW FROM SUCCESS.....Following the success of The Jolomo Awards in 2007 and 2009, The Jolomo Foundation Board has launched the Awards for a third time with the winners to be announced at a Presentation Dinner in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow in June 2011.
The Jolomo Awards were established by the artist John Lowrie Morrison in 2006 to support, encourage and promote the painting of the Scottish landscape. The Awards seek to recognise young and emerging artists who are moving Scottish landscape painting forward, and support them in their development. The main prize for the 2011 Awards has been increased to £25,000 bringing the total prize money to £35,000, making The Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards 2011 the largest privately funded Arts Award in the UK.

The Judging Panel for the 2009 Awards were greatly encouraged both by the quality of the entries received and the age range of the artists, from 22 to 71 years, confirming that artists can "emerge" at any age. From a short list of seven artists, four winners were announced at a presentation dinner in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in June 2009. The winner, Keith Salmon, received £20,000, with three runners up also receiving awards: Toby Cooke (£5,000), Jack Frame (£2,500) and Alastair Strachan (£2,500).
The four winners all work in strikingly different styles but, as with the 2007 Awards winners, the thing they have in common is that they are moving Scottish landscape painting forward.
